Inside Schneider Electric's Sustainability Impact Programme

Global energy management and automation company Schneider Electric has announced the completion of its Schneider Sustainability Impact (SSI) 2021-2025 programme, rounding off a five-year effort that placed energy efficiency and decarbonisation at the centre of its corporate strategy.
The initiative’s results, published in early 2026, show clear advances in cutting emissions, scaling clean technologies and promoting local energy access.
The conclusion of SSI 2021-2025 marks a key milestone in Schneider’s broader drive to accelerate an inclusive, technology-led energy transition.
Progress in carbon and resource efficiency
During 2025, Schneider Electric helped its customers save or avoid 862 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions through its wide range of solutions and services.
This surpasses its 2025 goal of 800Mt and reflects growing adoption of smart energy management systems, electrification solutions and digital platforms that drive measurable reductions in energy use.
The company also expanded its global waste-to-resources network to 176 operational sites, reducing dependence on waste-to-energy facilities and promoting circular resource flows.
Across all locations, Schneider met its target of implementing local biodiversity protection and restoration initiatives – an achievement that underscores the link between environmental stewardship and resilient energy systems.
“Schneider Sustainability Impact 2021-2025 has been a transformative journey,” says Olivier Blum, CEO of Schneider Electric.
“For more than 20 years, sustainability has been rooted in our identity and driven our journey forward.
“By combining innovation, partnerships and accountability, we have delivered progress against key sustainability metrics across our operations and our ecosystem.
“These results reinforce our belief that sustainability is a powerful driver of both performance and positive impact.”
Measuring impact and scaling access
At the close of 2025, Schneider Electric achieved an overall SSI score of 8.86 out of 10.
The framework serves as a continuous improvement system, converting progress against key performance indicators into measurable impact – notably around decarbonisation and equitable energy access.
Through its long-running Access to Energy programme, launched in 2009, Schneider Electric has provided reliable, affordable and clean energy to more than 61 million people, surpassing its original 50 million target.
The company has also delivered over 500 local sustainability projects since 2021, reinforcing its commitment to decentralised energy innovation.
Amy Haddon, Head of Global Marketing & Communications at SE Advisory Services, writes on LinkedIn: “I am so proud of the accomplishments Schneider Electric made in sustainability from 2021-2025.
“But this is a race with no end – here’s to the next chapter in our Schneider Sustainability Impact programme.”
2030 and beyond
The achievements of the 2021-2025 programme build on Schneider Electric’s long-term philosophy of “doing well to do good” and “bringing everyone along”.
Key to this is the belief that digitalisation and electrification are vital to achieving climate-positive outcomes at scale.
By investing in connected technologies and intelligent energy systems, Schneider aims to enhance efficiency not only within its own operations but across global supply chains and communities.
“Closing SSI 2021-2025 is a milestone, not a finish line,” says Esther Finidori, Chief Sustainability Officer at Schneider Electric.
“What remains is the collective capacity we’ve built with our people, customers and suppliers, and the discipline to deliver concrete results and meaningful impact.
“As we move toward 2030, our compass is clear: we’ll leverage technology and innovation for progress, bring others along, learn and share what works to scale impact while continuously striving to do the right thing.
“At Schneider Electric, we’re convinced that advancing energy technology can help power progress for all.”
