ABB and Heineken Guadalajara's energy-smart alliance is revolutionising brewery operations through cutting-edge efficiency and sustainable technology

Powering a significant brewery such as Heineken Guadalajara demands not only robust and precise operations but also a reliable and efficient energy source.

Since 2012, ABB Electrification Service has been at the forefront, ensuring that critical machinery like boilers and compressors operate seamlessly.

These components are crucial to sustain the brewery's hefty monthly output of 30 million litres covering more than 20 distinct brands.

Uberth Rios, Maintenance Coordinator at Heineken Guadalajara, explains the importance of this reliability: “We also have critical equipment such as boilers and compressors that must stay operational at all times.

Delivering greater energy efficiency

In the relentless pursuit of efficiency within the food and beverage sector, ABB's relationship with Heineken Guadalajara stands out.
Pedro Robredo, Senior Vice President of ABB Electrification Services (Americas), says: “Through ABB's partnership with Heineken Guadalajara, we've seen that lasting transformation comes from combining deep operational expertise with strategic guidance.

"It's about understanding our customers' day-to-day challenges while helping them build more sustainable and efficient business operations.”

This concerted effort has enabled Heineken Guadalajara to enhance its energy efficiency through superior power distribution and machinery optimisation.

The positive impact of such improvements is not just theoretical.

According to PwC, food and beverage companies could see nearly US$300m in annual energy savings and additional revenues by adopting more comprehensive energy management strategies.

At Heineken Guadalajara, ABB's innovations such as advanced switchboards and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems have notably decreased electrical consumption while also freeing up physical space at the facility.

Uberth adds: “ABB plays a crucial role in Heineken’s sustainability journey by ensuring efficient and high-quality energy distribution, reducing electrical consumption, and guaranteeing the reliability of our electrical equipment.”

A partnership defined by trust and innovation

More than just a typical client-supplier dynamic, the tie between ABB and Heineken Guadalajara is deeply rooted in mutual respect and common objectives.
