Huawei unveiled new digital transformation tools for the energy sector and industrial automation at GITEX Global 2024, marking a significant expansion of its enterprise technology portfolio. The company’s 1,400-square-metre exhibition at Dubai World Trade Centre showcased solutions integrating artificial intelligence and 5G-Advanced networks across multiple industries.

Central to Huawei's presence was its Intelligent Distribution Solution for power utilities and an Intelligent Oil & Gas Field Solution incorporating machine learning for upstream operations, forming a key part of the company’s strategic push into industrial automation as energy companies seek to modernise their operations amid the renewable energy transition.

“We have summarised over 100 case studies that different industry customers can use to accelerate their digital and intelligent transformation,” said Li Peng, Corporate Senior Vice President and President of ICT Sales & Service at Huawei. The company has established 14 OpenLabs globally to support joint innovation with local solution providers, including partnerships with more than 30 organisations in the UAE.

The exhibition space was divided into two primary zones focusing on industrial transformation practices and digital infrastructure. Core enterprise technologies on display included data communications, optical networks, storage systems, campus networks, data centres and cloud services.

The company also introduced a Global Digital Index developed with research firm IDC to provide quantitative evaluation indicators for industrial transformation projects. This initiative supports organisations in building what Huawei terms ‘AI-ready ICT infrastructure.’

Throughout the five-day event, Huawei hosted an Industrial Digital and Intelligent Transformation Summit alongside technical forums and speaker sessions. These gatherings facilitated dialogue between customers, partners, industry experts and technology specialists on enterprise digitalisation trends.

Technical demonstrations covered manufacturing solutions incorporating IoT sensors, transportation systems using artificial intelligence, healthcare platforms leveraging data analytics and education technology supporting hybrid learning models. The company's public utility systems, power distribution solutions and oil and gas field systems highlighted its focus on critical infrastructure sectors.

Huawei’s SHAPE partnership framework received particular attention, with Ernest Zhang, President of Global Partner, Commercial & Distribution, Enterprise Sales, highlighting the benefits for technology integrators.

For smaller organisations, Huawei presented its eKit solutions, combining hardware, software and services scaled for limited IT resources and budgets. These offerings aim to lower barriers to entry for companies beginning their digital transformation journey.

The exhibition demonstrated Huawei's expanded commitment to partner engagement through new policies and tool support. These initiatives strengthen collaboration between Huawei and its technology integration partners as industries progress through different stages of digital transformation.

The scale of Huawei's presence at GITEX Global 2024 underscored the company's strategic focus on industrial digitalisation, presenting solutions ranging from enterprise-scale implementations to targeted tools for organisations at various stages of technological maturity.

As Li Peng said in his opening speech at the Huawei Industrial Digital and Intelligent Transformation Summit: “Digital and intelligent transformation should not be a privilege for the few. It should be a benefit for all.

“Huawei is ready and willing to join forces with more customers and partners. Together, we can do more, create more, and make the most of huge opportunities in this exciting new era.”
