VoltaGrid's 2.3 GW Energy Infrastructure for Oracle AI

VoltaGrid is set to collaborate with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to provide 2,300 MW of ultra-low-emissions energy infrastructure aimed at supporting the next generation of AI data centres.
The deployment leverages Energy Transfer's natural gas network to deliver consistent energy to Oracle's growing infrastructure needs.
Operating as a modular, high-transient-response system, the VoltaGrid power platform is designed to balance speed, reliability and environmental performance.
Developed in partnership with INNIO Jenbacher and ABB, the platform aims to address the demanding power profiles associated with AI operations whilst minimising reliance on battery storage.
“This is more than a power deal, it’s a collaboration with Oracle to engineer scalable solutions that dampen swings in AI power demand,” says Nathan Ough, CEO of VoltaGrid.
“Together, we’re delivering grid-grade performance with ultra-fast response, zero reliance on battery storage and near-zero criteria air emissions.”
The partnership could reflect the growing energy demands of AI computing and the data centres required to support such operations.
As large-scale AI models continue to develop, maintaining stable and clean power supply presents a critical operational challenge for cloud providers.
AI workload energy demands
AI applications create distinct pressures on data centre energy systems.
Power consumption varies based on model size and computational intensity, resulting in inconsistent loads that could affect efficiency and grid performance.

The modular infrastructure developed by VoltaGrid could enable Oracle to stabilise energy supply across its expanding AI operations.
The system integrates with OCI's energy strategy to support continuous, on-demand power delivery whilst maintaining compliance with emissions standards.
VoltaGrid highlighted several potential advantages of its approach, including:

Natural gas infrastructure integration
Energy Transfer, a major US energy infrastructure provider, plays a central role in the partnership.
Its pipeline and storage network delivers firm natural gas supply to VoltaGrid's facilities, providing a consistent source of fuel for sustained operations.
This access to stable gas supply could demonstrate the commercial value of Energy Transfer's infrastructure in supporting enterprise-scale energy requirements.
The arrangement also reflects the potential importance of hybrid energy solutions that balance renewable integration with gas-based supply for consistent uptime.
The collaboration allows Oracle to strengthen the resilience of its AI infrastructure without depending exclusively on grid resources.
This approach could reinforce data centre reliability across regions experiencing increased electricity demand driven by AI and high-performance computing growth.
Manufacturing and workforce development
VoltaGrid's initiative extends beyond power delivery to include long-term investment in Texas-based manufacturing and operations.
According to the company, VoltaGrid and its supply chain partners plan to expand production capacity across the Dallas and Houston regions, creating more than 400 manufacturing positions.
Additionally, operational growth is expected to generate more than 350 roles in Texas.
These positions will support the ongoing expansion of VoltaGrid's infrastructure, potentially reinforcing local economic development whilst building a skilled energy and engineering workforce.
