Schneider Electric has been ranked as the number one most sustainable company in the world for 2025 by TIME Magazine for its energy and ESG progress

For the second consecutive year, Schneider Electric has been named the world’s most sustainable company by TIME Magazine in 2025.

Ranked based on public commitment to and progress toward sustainability targets, Schneider came out on top with a score of 93.85.

On top of making sustainability progress of its own, the company has helped others ranked on the list to reduce their environmental footprints.

“We’re incredibly honoured to be recognised as the world’s most sustainable company for the second year in a row,” says Olivier Blum, CEO of Schneider Electric.

“As a technology company, our goal is to be the trusted partner of our customer to deliver efficiency and sustainability.

“At Schneider, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We strive to be an Impact Company – where performance is the foundation.

“Our purpose drives us to engage our entire ecosystem, our mission positions us as part of the solution, and our culture sets us apart.

“This holistic approach ensures that every aspect of our operations and value chain contributes to a more sustainable world.”

What makes Schneider Electric the most sustainable company?

On top of supporting its customers with energy management and carbon emissions, Schneider has ambitious sustainability goals and proven progress on them.

Its targets involve a 25% absolute carbon reduction across its entire value chain by 2030 and net zero CO₂ emissions by 2050.

In the company’s 2025 Q1 results, it announced a number of achievements, including:

  • Enabling customers to save and avoid nearly 700 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions
  • Exceeding sustainability targets well ahead of schedule
  • Facilitating access to energy for 56 million people by promoting clean energy solutions.

On top of this, Schneider Electric is a major partner to Sustainability LIVE London, a conference bringing together leading minds shaping the future of sustainable business.

Schneider Electric assesses its sustainability measures using the Schneider Sustainability Impact (SSI) scores, rating its progression on a scale from one to 10 across six principal commitments to planetary health.

Schneider Electric's six long-term commitments:
  • Act for a climate-positive world
  • Be efficient with resources
  • Live up to its principles of trust
  • Create equal opportunities
  • Harness the power of all generations
  • Empower local communities

For Q1 2025, the company achieved a SSI score of 7.95 out of 10, with a goal to elevate this to 8.80 by year's end.

Sustainability leadership at Schneider Electric

Olivier Blum, Schneider’s CEO, assumed leadership in November 2024, having previously filled numerous roles including Chief Strategy & Sustainability Officer and Chief Human Resources Officer.

He has also featured as Sustainability Magazine's October 2024 cover star, and said: “The fact that I had this combination of being in sales, marketing, product development, then at one point took over a smaller business unit globally, then HR, then chief strategy and sustainability — this combination of experience gives me a different view on my current role and the value of energy management to our customer, and of course to Schneider.”
