Kent Reinforces US Focus by Expanding Houston Operations

Engineering firm Kent is known around the world as a leader in integrated energy services.
To underpin this position and grow its footprint further — particularly in the US — Kent is significantly expanding its operations in Houston, Texas, reinforcing its commitment to the US energy and manufacturing sectors.
Already a well-established and respected brand, it is hoped that this move will enhance Kent's capabilities in delivering innovative solutions for complex energy projects and industrial facilities across the North American continent.
Kent: Strengthening energy expertise
Kent’s operations in the Americas stretch back more than 60 years.
This is a significant area of its global footprint, which includes 13,000 employees across 34 countries.
And in the first six months of this year alone, Kent has secured US$1.2bn in new contract awards. This, the firm believes, is a testament to the company’s 'robust capabilities and trusted reputation' in delivering complex energy projects.
Scott Tanley, Vice President of Operations USA, is spearheading Kent’s US expansion.
“Houston has always been at the heart of our operations in the Americas,” he said. “This investment underscores our confidence in the US market and our determination to support our clients with world-class solutions that are faster, cheaper and better than anyone else.
“We are excited about the opportunities ahead and are committed to helping our clients navigate the energy transition with the scale, attitude, and people to get it done.”
How does Kent contribute to the energy space?
It’s no secret that Kent contributes significantly to the energy sector through engineering, but its offerings also extend to project delivery and consulting services across various areas, including oil and gas, offshore wind, hydrogen and carbon capture.
One of its specialties is offshore wind.
Kent is involved in the engineering for approximately 12GW of offshore wind off the UK coast and is providing early engineering support to projects in the Australian market — where there is a long history with offshore oil and gas. Here, Kent has decades of experience supporting the industry and addressing its challenges.
Speaking in Energy Digital’s June edition, Kent’s Offshore Wind Market Director Cerianne Cummings — who has worked in the offshore space for more than 10 years — said: “Australia is remote from the existing offshore wind supply chain and generally has a limited supply chain available to deliver large offshore wind projects.
“We are drawing on our current activities to support oil and gas decommissioning and ongoing engagements with ports.”
This expertise and guidance is a prime example of Kent’s expertise and how it nurtures the energy market end-to-end.
Kent also actively supports decarbonisation efforts and innovation through its operations. This happens by implementing digital technologies to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
But it’s not just helping clients be greener. Kent is actively working toward generating a third of its revenue from low carbon and renewable energy sources by 2027.
By expanding in key energy hubs — like Houston — Kent continues to further solidify its role as a vital player in shaping the future of the energy industry.
